Is This The Best 1TB External Drive?
For my office Desktop, I wanted to buy a good external hard drive to satisfy my ever increasing storage needs. I searched online for good deals and was lucky to find a great bargain on Amazon in the form of Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive. Being very reasonably priced, it fulfilled my need for a portable, external hard drive without digging a deep hole in my wallet.
Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop external hard drive proved quite an affordable solution for my external storage requirements. Since it uses USB 2.0 port for connecting to PC, it is just a plug-and-play solution and is makes storing your documents,photos,videos and music quite a simple task. The looks are also good with having a stylish and durable aluminum design.
Since the Iomega Prestige uses a USB 2.0 interface the data transfer rate is quite fast and moreover it is compatible with wide variety of systems which supports USB interface. As the USB 2.0 interface supports data transfer rate of up to 480 Mbps it takes very less time to copy your files from the external hard drive to and fro. The drive already comes preformatted with ntfs so you need not bother about formatting it again.
The spindle speed is 7200 RPM which is quite a standard for today’s harddisk and it has 8MB (or higher) cache buffer which means fast access speeds and low latency.
And with 1TB of storage capacity, you will have plenty of space to store all the music files,movies etc. you have stashed away in Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive. The outer body is constructed with durable aluminum and has a brushed metal finish. A stand is also included which allows you to place the drive either horizontally or vertically. Apart from the visual aspect, the aluminum design also works to remove the heat which makes the drive run cooler and quieter. This is really great 1TB external hard drive.
License for EMC’s Retrospect Express software is included though you have to download the software which is available for free. It also includes free MozyHome Online Backup with option of storing 2GB of data online.
This external hard drive is compatible with both MAC and PC so you can just plug it and use it as you wish but since the drive some preformatted with NTFS you have to format it again to use with a MAC. Also included with the Iomega Prestige 1TB External Hard Drive is an Energy Star qualified adapter, which proved to be a real value addition. The housing has a power switch and a white light on side which provides the visual indication of drive activity. It also cxame with a one year warranty.
