Case Logic Compact Portable Hard Drive Case Enclosure
Since I have travel a lot with my portable hard drive, it was necessary for me to buy a reliable portable hard drive case. My search for a good case ended when I found the Case Logic Compact Portable Hard Drive Case on Amazon.com at a very reasonable price. The case logic portable hard drive case has a tough external shell which feels durable and the inner shell is soft and well padded. The seams are done carefully and overall the case is very well formed.
I used the case with a Western Digital Passport II (black) WDXMSxxxx drives (5.1″x3.1″x0.6″) but it was slightly big for it. As such the drive used to wiggle even when using the elastic strap provided inside. I think it will be better fitted to a slightly bigger drive such as Seagate’s ST9xxxxx1U2-RK.
Being a universal drive case, it is obvious that it can’t be a perfect fit for all kind of portable hard drives but I have tested with some hard drives and this is how they fit inside it.
- First generation WD Passport (silver colored, blueish rubberized bottom, Western Digital 80 GB Passport 2.5-inch External Hard Drive) fits perfectly. This case seems to be originally made for these drives as the drive seems to fit perfectly inside.
- Newer WD Passport (various colors, non-rubberized bottom, WD Passport Portable WDXMSB1600 – Hard drive – 160 GB – external – 2.5″ – Hi-Speed USB – 5400 rpm – buffer: 2 MB – metallic red): Even though the case is too long and too wide for such drives but the strap can be used to hold it in place .
- Seagate FreeAgent Go (Seagate FreeAgent Go 160 GB USB External Hard Drive ST901603FGA1E1-RK: The drive is slightly wider but still the case still can be zipped shut with this drive.
The Case Logic Compact Portable Hard Drive Case is made from very high quality material and the case does offer an excelled protection for external hard disk.
You can also store another drive in it in case you don’t have any cables to use the accessory pocket, which is available in the other half of the case. The zip still shuts with 2 drives inside so that can also be a good option in case you don’t have cables to go with it.
This case is highly recommended to anyone looking for high-quality protection for portable hard drives and other electronics, such as PDAs or MP3 players.
The case is hard and solid and many different kind ofportable hard drive can fit inside. The elastic strap holds the drive properly and it doesn’t let the drive fall out even when the case is moved openly and the sturdy design should be good a good enough reason for you to purchase it in case you need to protect your portable hard disk.
